OnePlus to Manufacture OnePlus 3T 64GB Variant in India From January

OnePlus India, as expected, on Friday unveiled the upgraded variant of the OnePlus 3, the OnePlus 3T. The smartphone will be going on sale from December 14 via its exclusive online retail partner, Amazon India. OnePlus 3T has been launched in a 64GB model priced at Rs. 29,999 and the 128GB model priced at Rs. 34,999.

At the event, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India told Gadgets 360 that the company will continue to sell the OnePlus 3 - reiterating what the company said last month - though he confessed that ultimately the focus will come to the upgraded OnePlus 3T. He also revealed that OnePlus will start manufacturing the OnePlus 3T in India from next month.

"We will continue with the OnePlus 3 for the foreseeable future but eventually the focus will shift to the OnePlus 3T. We are also gearing to start manufacturing OnePlus 3T in India from next month. For the company, the future will be around the OnePlus 3T."

Agarwal added that initially, OnePlus will only manufacture the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 3T. On being asked whether the company plans to manufacture the 128GB variant as well, Agarwal responded, "We will see how the market requirement comes. As 128GB is more premium so it will depend on the response from the market and we can take a call on it only after the initial response is positive."

Agarwal stressed that the company will promote its brand new exclusive e-commerce platform in India. The company's official website - oneplusstore.in was launched in October and sells OnePlus accessories via the store. Consumers, however, are redirected to Amazon India when they try to buy any smartphone from the store.

OnePlus 4 Tipped to Sport Snapdragon 830 SoC, Launch in June-July

OnePlus is revelling in the success of the OnePlus 3 but looks like the company may have already started work on next year's flagship. A fresh leak hints that the OnePlus 4 will be powered by the yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 830 processor, and will be launched sometime in June-July.

The timeframe leaked on Weibo is in line with Oneplus' usual flagship announcement period. Notably, the OnePlus 3 was unveiled this year in June as well. The Snapdragon 830 chipset has not been officially announced by Qualcomm, but Samsung last month went ahead and revealed its existence, saying it would be built on its 10nm manufacturing process.

The chip is rumoured to have an octa-core setup, support 4K display resolutions, and up to 8GB of RAM. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, the extraordinary Turing phones, and the Microsoft Surface Phone are also expected to sport this new Snapdragon 830 processor.

Furthermore, the OnePlus 4 is rumoured to have 6GB of RAM, and the processor is expected to be clocked at 3GHz. It will run on Android Nougat-based-OxygenOS out-of-the-box and may pack a 4000mAh battery. To recall, the OnePlus 3 packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

The latest chipset offering from Qualcomm currently is the Snapdragon 821. OnePlus is expected to unveil an upgraded OnePlus 3T variant with this processor sometime in December. It is rumoured to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat-based Oxygen OS out-of-the-box, and sport a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor. There's also a rumoured shift to LCD panel instead of the Optic OLED display, and the price is expected to increase to $479 (roughly Rs. 32,100).
