Considering that the OnePlus 3 is just merely five months old in the market and it has already received an upgrade in the form of OnePlus 3T, it will be interesting to see how the company sells both the phones in various India.

The new OnePlus 3T looks identical to the original OnePlus 3 though there are some upgrades under the hood. The new variant packs an all-new Snapdragon 821 SoC, a bumped front-facing camera, a new 128GB storage model, and even a new colour variant. It has already gone on sale in the US while in Europe it will be available starting Saturday, and from Monday in the UK.

Coming to pricing, OnePlus 3T 64GB has been priced at $439 (roughly Rs. 29,800), while the 128GB model will come at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,500). To recall, the OnePlus 3 was launched at $399 (priced at Rs. 27,999 in India) - and it was only available in a 64GB model.

For specifications, the OnePlus 3T sports a faster quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor (two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz) compared to the Snapdragon 820 processor on the older OnePlus 3. It comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage options, compared to just a 64GB variant on the OnePlus 3. On the camera side, the OnePlus 3T is superior in terms of camera resolution. OnePlus 3T With Snapdragon 821 SoC, 128GB Storage Option Launched

OnePlus on Tuesday as expected unveiled an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3 – the OnePlus 3T. The only differences between the two smartphones are a faster SoC, increased storage, an improved front camera, and a larger battery. The 64GB model has been priced at GBP 399 (roughly Rs. 33,700), EUR 439 (roughly Rs. 31,200), and USD 439 (roughly Rs. 29,800), while the 128GB model has been priced at GBP 439 (roughly Rs. 37,100), EUR 479 (roughly Rs. 34,800), and USD 479 (roughly Rs. 32,500).

The OnePlus 3T will be available in the US from November 22 and in Europe from November 26. Unlike the OnePlus 3, no details of when the smartphone will be made available in India were revealed at the launch. It will be available in the newer Gunmetal and Soft Gold colour variants, with the latter being made available shortly after launch.

The company also announced that a new OxygenOS build based on Android 7.0 Nougat will be released for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T at the same time before the end of this year, and going forward, the two smartphones will receive updates simultaneously.

Clearing the differences between the OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 3 - the newly launched OnePlus 3T sports a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC (two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz) in contrast to the Snapdragon 820 SoC on the OnePlus 3. It comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage models, compared to just a 64GB model on the OnePlus 3.

As for the improved front camera, OnePlus has doubled the resolution of the front camera from 8-megapixel on the OnePlus 3 to 16-megapixel on the OnePlus 3T – while also switching sensors from the Sony IMX179 with 1.4-micron pixels to the Samsung 3P8SP with 1-micron pixels. It also gets PDAF autofocus, rather than just a fixed focus setup.

Finally, the OnePlus 3T gets an upgraded 3400mAh battery compared to the 3000mAh offering on the OnePlus 3. It also supports Dash Charge (5V 4A) fast charging technology introduced with the OnePlus 3.

In terms of design both the phones are similar, with the OnePlus 3T bearing the same anodised aluminium metal unibody design, the same fingerprint sensor on the home button, and the same Alert Slider apart from capacitive hardware keys. It also comes with the same USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The SoC is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

Connectivity options on the OnePlus 3T include 4G LTE (with support for India's LTE bands), Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and GPS/ A-GPS. It bears the same measurements as the OnePlus 3 at 152.7x74.7x7.35mm, and the same weight at 158 grams.

OnePlus 3T Launch Teaser Hints at Flagship's Design and Name

The leaks for the OnePlus 3T have been around for a long time by now and has even made an appearance at benchmark websites - ahead of its anticipated launch on Tuesday. Interestingly, all the rumors until now have suggested that the smartphone will bear the same design as current flagship by the company. Now, it seems like the company has confirmed this long-standing rumor with a teaser about the launch of its upcoming smartphone.

The teaser posted by OnePlus on Chinese website Weibo shows a OnePlus 3 smartphone placed in front of a mirror that reflects an image with the character 'T' displayed on its screen. This teaser seemingly confirms that the smartphone will be similar to OnePlus 3 in terms of design but will carry the character 'T' in its name. Beneath this image, the company has given a tagline that says "To be a better me."

OnePlus has already confirmed earlier this month, through its Twitter account, that its upcoming device will pack Snapdragon 821 processor and will be launched on November 15. Earlier leaks have suggested that the OnePlus 3T will come with Sony's latest IMX398 sensor onboard. It is further expected to sport an Optic AMOLED display and run on Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS. It is expected to house a large 3300mAh battery.

The Snapdragon 821 chipset on the smartphone will be paired with 6GB of RAM and the smartphone is tipped to come in storage options of 32GB and 64GB. The OnePlus 3T is expected to be priced at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,100) - $80 more than the OnePlus 3, which is priced at Rs. 27,999 in India.

As all these leaked specifications have not been confirmed by the company, so we'll have to wait till the official announcement by the company. However, as the launch is scheduled to be on Tuesday, we will not have to wait long for the confirmation.

OnePlus 3T With 3300mAh Battery Tipped to Launch on November 14

The OnePlus 3T, the rumored upgraded variant of OnePlus 3, has been receiving leaks for past few months. The leaks about the phone have suggested that it will not be a complete revamp but a rather more capable version of OnePlus 3. Even though the smartphone was earlier expected to be launched in December, reports now suggest that it will be launched on November 14.

The leak comes from a post on Chinese website Weibo that says that OnePlus 3T will be launched on November 14 in London and will come equipped with Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. The post further suggests that the smartphone will be made available in two storage variants of 64GB and 128GB and will also come in a Black colour variant. The battery is said to have been upgraded to a 3300mAh version, larger than the 3000mAh offering by the OnePlus 3.

The smartphone is expected to sport a 5.5-inch screen similar to the OnePlus 3 with a screen resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. OnePlus 3T is tipped to feature the same design as the current flagship of the company and is similarly expected to come with a USB Type-C port. OnePlus 3T will allegedly feature Sony's new IMX398 rear sensor and that it will run on Android 7.0 Nougat.

OnePlus 3T is expected to come with an Optic AMOLED display, as CEO Carl Pei earlier confirmed that OnePlus will continue to use the same display on its devices in the anticipated future. The support for Dash Charge is likely to be tagged along with the upgraded variant of OnePlus 3 as well.

As per earlier rumors, the OnePlus 3T will be priced at $480 (roughly Rs. 32,000). Like every other rumor, we will have to wait for an actual announcement by the company for any confirmation.

OnePlus 4 Tipped to Sport Snapdragon 830 SoC, Launch in June-July

OnePlus is revelling in the success of the OnePlus 3 but looks like the company may have already started work on next year's flagship. A fresh leak hints that the OnePlus 4 will be powered by the yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 830 processor, and will be launched sometime in June-July.

The timeframe leaked on Weibo is in line with Oneplus' usual flagship announcement period. Notably, the OnePlus 3 was unveiled this year in June as well. The Snapdragon 830 chipset has not been officially announced by Qualcomm, but Samsung last month went ahead and revealed its existence, saying it would be built on its 10nm manufacturing process.

The chip is rumoured to have an octa-core setup, support 4K display resolutions, and up to 8GB of RAM. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, the extraordinary Turing phones, and the Microsoft Surface Phone are also expected to sport this new Snapdragon 830 processor.

Furthermore, the OnePlus 4 is rumoured to have 6GB of RAM, and the processor is expected to be clocked at 3GHz. It will run on Android Nougat-based-OxygenOS out-of-the-box and may pack a 4000mAh battery. To recall, the OnePlus 3 packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

The latest chipset offering from Qualcomm currently is the Snapdragon 821. OnePlus is expected to unveil an upgraded OnePlus 3T variant with this processor sometime in December. It is rumoured to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat-based Oxygen OS out-of-the-box, and sport a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor. There's also a rumoured shift to LCD panel instead of the Optic OLED display, and the price is expected to increase to $479 (roughly Rs. 32,100).

OnePlus 3T: Release Date, Price, Specifications; All the Rumors so far!

OnePlus is rumored to launch an upgraded OnePlus 3 variant sometime in December this year. The upgraded variant will sport a new processor and run on the latest version of Android. Now, a fresh leak reveals the expected price of the smartphone as well. Expected to be called the OnePlus 3T, the smartphone has been circulating in the rumor mill, hinting at an expected unveil. OnePlus was recently also reported to have halted production of the OnePlus 3 to focus its efforts on the new variant powered by the upgraded Snapdragon 821 SoC.

The OnePlus 3, on its own, has some great specifications and performs impressively (Review here), and the OnePlus 3T is likely to take that up a notch further. We take a look at all that we know about the OnePlus 3T variant so far, including the expected launch date of the smartphone.

Release Date

The OnePlus 3T is expected to launch in December this year, probably sometime around Christmas. Because of this, the OnePlus 4 launch next year is also rumored to be delayed a bit. While a designer reportedly associated with the firm let out that the upgrade will be called OnePlus 3T, the names OnePlus 3s and OnePlus 3 Plus have also been floating around the Web.

Specifications

As the OnePlus 3T is reportedly an upgrade to the already amazing OnePlus 3, so we don't expect a major specification change. So far, it is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor just like the new Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL devices and will run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat (which will obviously be based on Oxygen OS).

It will continue to sport an Optic AMOLED display, as CEO Carl Pei recently confirmed that OnePlus will continue to use the same display in the anticipated future. The design of the OnePlus 3T is also expected to be similar to the flagship, with support for Dash Charge embedded as well.

Price

There isn't any price leak associated with the new variant, but knowing the company's business strategy, it will be offering the phone at a reasonable price point. According to noted tipster Evan Blass, the OnePlus 3T will be priced $80 (roughly Rs. 5,400) more than the current OnePlus 3.

The tipster claims that the upgraded smartphone will be priced at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,100). Even with this price bump, the smartphone is still reasonable when compared to the other flagships in the market. Both Apple and Google flagships are priced way higher than the OnePlus 3 and the rumored OnePlus 3T.

While on paper, this isn't much of an upgrade, but OnePlus could announce more during the big unveil, making Christmas merrier. Till then, it is advised you take all speculations with a pinch of salt.

OnePlus on Thursday announced its exclusive e-commerce store for the Indian market. The new official website - oneplusstore.in  which is currently selling OnePlus accessories via the store. However, while the OnePlus 3 smartphone is listed on the store, users are redirected to buy it via Amazon India, company's retail partner. OnePlus believes that the new online store will "improve the availability" of OnePlus products in India.

The company, in order to make it more rewarding for early supporters, is offering limited-time offers to its existing users in the country. To avail the offers, users will have to register the IMEI details of their smartphones on the OnePlus online store.

The company has no plans to sell smartphones from the store as of now, and the new online store is in fact aimed at engaging with the OnePlus community in India by providing "exclusive original merchandise".

Review: OnePlus 3; Third time's a charm?

Bored of Reading? Check out my Video on the phone:

Third time's a charm, right? Well that's what OnePlus seems to have done with its third-generation flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3.

True to its 'Never Settle' mantra, OnePlus is pushing forward with its 'flagship specs for half the price' marketing plan, and with the new OnePlus 3 all seems right.

After the initial breakout success of the OnePlus One in 2014, the follow up from the Chinese outfit was a little lackluster, with the OnePlus 2 failing to reach the same heights as its predecessor. And then came the OnePlus X which wasn't bad for its standards.

The company recently announced the end of its highly-criticized invite system, and has now launched the phone that it hopes will take it into a new future of easy availability of its affordable flagships, the Rs. 27,999 OnePlus 3. On paper, this phone is an absolute beast, and appears to have what it takes to challenge the set conventions of flagship pricing. But does the OnePlus 3 have what it takes to succeed? Find out in my review.

In the Box

Opening the box will reveal the OnePlus 3 inside a protective plastic wrap, with some printed details about the phone. Then we have a quick user guide and a SIM ejector, and finally, the powerful new Dash Charger and a USB-C cable for charging and syncing the phone.

The Dash charger is an interesting new addition. It's a super-powerful 20-watt (5 volts, 4 amps) wall charger that is protected against overheating and delivers up to 63% of charge in just half an hour.

Look And Feel

Similar to the OnePlus 2, the design of the OnePlus 3 impressed me! The OnePlus 3 implements one big change that makes all the difference in lending an air of quality to the phone; the plastic rear panel with sandstone finishing is finally gone; though many loved it, it has been replaced by a cold, hard aluminium back. Furthermore, it's a unibody with a dull metallic finish, and reminds me a little bit of the HTC One M9 thanks to its antenna lines and bulging rear camera. It's beautiful, well-built, and finally brings OnePlus into the big leagues of design.

For sandstone finish lovers OnePlus also give you an option to buy five optional plastic cases that you can buy along with different looks and finishes: Karbon, Bamboo, Apricot, Rosewood and Sandstone.

Front-on the OnePlus 3 isn't anything special - it's a relatively standard black slab coated in Gorilla Glass 4, with the main feature being the indented fingerprint scanner-come-home-button oval below the display. The OnePlus 3 has a 5.5-inch 1080p Optic AMOLED display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. There is however a polarising layer that assists legibility under bright sunlight. Although it isn't as crisp as the 1440x2560-pixel screens on many flagship phones these days, it's suitably sharp and will give you an excellent picture.

The fingerprint scanner is much quicker at recognizing your digits and unlocking the OnePlus 3 than it was on the OnePlus 2, with a quoted time of just 0.3 seconds. While I can't vouch for the exact speed I can see that it's impressively quick, and I didn't have any issues when using it. OnePlus says it's faster than Apple's Touch ID, and I'm inclined to agree.

Either side of the scanner you'll find touch-sensitive navigation keys which are only visible when tapped, with a single white LED illuminating for a couple of seconds before disappearing into the bezel. This unit I received came with a preinstalled screen protector film, but it doesn't completely cover the front. Fortunately you can remove it pretty easily, and it doesn't leave any nasty residue on the glass - but you're unlikely to get the bubble-free finish if you try to re-apply it, so make sure you really want it gone before peeling it off.

Along the left side of the 7.35mm-thick OnePlus 3 are the volume rocker and notification slider. The latter has three positions: all notifications, priority notifications and silent, enabling you to quickly adjust the setting without waking the screen similar to the OnePlus 2. Then we have the power button and dual-SIM tray on the right, and the speaker, USB type-C port and 3.5mm socket at the bottom - OnePlus certainly isn't ready to ditch the 3.5mm jack just yet

The buttons are well positioned, and as long as your hands are big enough to grapple the OnePlus 3 you'll be able to hit them without issue when using the phone one-handed.

Specifications

The OnePlus 3 is absolutely packed full of power with Qualcomm's top of the range Snapdragon 820 processor, which is also found in the HTC 10, LG G5 and the American variant of the Galaxy S7. Not only does the OnePlus 3 have this SoC clocked at 2.2GHz for two cores and 1.6GHz for the other two cores, but it also sports a enormous 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage (non-expandable).

Apart from this, there's also dual-SIM 4G connectivity with support for both FDD-Band 3 and TDD-Band 40, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and NFC. The phone has a 3000mAh non-removable battery, and is the company's first device to feature some kind of fast charging technology. It comes bundled with a 20W Dash Charger, which charges the phone up to 60 percent in 30 minutes. About an hour's charging should fully top up your phone even from near zero.

The technology shifts power management from the device to the charger, which ensures that the phone doesn't heat up too much while charging. I tried it, and it worked like amazingly. This also means that it's possible to keep using the phone while it's charging without slowing down the charging process too much. Charging and connectivity are through a USB 2.0 Type-C port, and the cable included in the box allows for ordinary connectivity with most computers and chargers thanks to one end being a standard USB Type-A plug.

It's interesting to note that OnePlus will also be selling a Dash Charger for cars, which plugs into a standard 12V car socket. It surely will be a useful accessory to buy if you spend a lot of time on the move.

On the software front, the OnePlus 3 is powered by OxygenOS 3.1.1, based on Android 6.0.1. OxygenOS is visually and functionally very similar to stock Android Marshmallow, with a few useful additions. Despite not being quite as light as stock Android, it still retains the same level of ease and snappiness across the system. Additions come in the form of customization options, while most of Marshmallow's standout features have been maintained. This includes the revamped app permissions system, Now On Tap, and Doze Mode. OxygenOS also lets you quickly unlock the boot-loader, which will then allow you to root your device or flash new firmware if you choose to.

Camera

The camera on the OnePlus 3 is a huge improvement over the previous generation. The 16-megapixel Sony IMX 298 sensor primary camera delivers a good picture quality and features optical image stabilisation, phase detection autofocus and RAW image format support. You can also shoot 4K videos and slow motion at 120 fps. This is pretty much the standard on flagship phones these days.

The image quality is better than what you might find on the previous generation. For selfie lovers the 8-megapixel sensor with 1.4-micron pixels does the job with ease and it can also shoot videos at 1080p @ 30fps.

The camera app is Google's stock app which you'll find on Nexus devices. It's designed around simplicity and maximizing screen space for the viewfinder. Because of this, there's only a single shutter button for capturing stills, and recording video is a two-step process.

The settings menu controls specific settings related to only the mode that you're in, so you will have to switch modes to modify settings such as video resolutions and grid toggles. While shooting stills, you can change the aspect ratio or toggle the self-timer. There are also small controls for the flash, HD shooting, HDR mode and the camera switcher. It's fairly simple and easy to use, but we've seen better apps on other devices which offer more control.

The camera itself is particularly good when shooting outdoors in good light, producing pictures that are sharp and detailed, with very little noise and grain. Colors are vibrant, and pictures are bright and good to look at. Auto-focus can occasionally be a bit slow, but once it locks onto a subject or scene, pictures are generally well composed and properly rendered. Optical and electronic image stabilization both help in producing good stills and videos. The only weakness is low-light shots, which tend to over-saturate whatever light there is and become grainy.

Videos are excellent and detailed even at full-HD resolution, and you always have the option to go up to 4K if you want them sharper. Slow motion and time lapse modes produce interesting results, but more control over both of these, and possibly the inclusion of 240fps shooting, would have been great additions to the camera. The front camera takes surprisingly sharp pictures as well, producing much better results than what we're used to seeing from typical smartphones. On the whole, the camera is more than adequate for ordinary smartphone shooting.

Yes I wrote too much...Didn't read it all? Don't worry here's the verdict...

The OnePlus 3 boasts of some supercool hardware that makes it a steal at the price that it's sold at. The phones has no issues when it comes to the performance and battery back-up. The only downside is the display on the OnePlus 3 and a similar Android Marshmallow experience that you get on the OnePlus 2.

This is a phone which excels in every department, and OnePlus has even fixed the issues we had with reliability and build quality on some of its previous devices. The inclusion of important features such as NFC, an accurate fingerprint sensor, an excellent Amoled screen and fast charging also finally means that this is a phone that checks all of the boxes.

If you are looking to buy a flagship device and are not keen on spending in excess of Rs 30,000 on a phone then the OnePlus 3 is a no-brainer and it's still a flagship killer. OnePlus 3 is all the phone you'll ever need in 2016.

OnePlus 3 goes official a little early, all specs revealed

OnePlus is holding a special press event to unveil the OnePlus 3 later today, but Amazon has already jumped the gun and unveiled the flagship in glorious detail. We are pretty sure you are all familiar with the OnePlus 3 thanks to the numerous leaks throughout the past few months, but here comes the confirmation.

The OnePlus 3 features a 5.5" Optic AMOLED display of 1080p resolution protected by a Gorilla Glass 4 and runs on the Snapdragon 820 chip with 6GB of RAM. The Kryo processor cores are clocked at maximum - 2x 2.2GHz and 2x 1.6GHz. OnePlus 3 has an internal storage of 64GB, non-expandable as expected.

The OnePlus 3 camera setup is rather interesting - there is a 16MP Sony IMX298 rear camera, optically stabilized, with phase-detection AF, a LED flash and 4K video recording. The front camera relies on an 8MP Sony IMX179 sensor with 1080p video capturing. The front snapper supports electronic image stabilization, which should improve the selfie videos.

OnePlus 3 will be invite-free; launch set for 14 June

OnePlus has announced that the invite system will be done away with for OnePlus 3 buyers. To get an invitation to a OnePlus device, buyers had to request one from someone who already owned a device, or complete community engagement tasks on social media. Instantly buying a OnePlus device was not easily possible.

The reason the company had an invite system in place, was that they wanted a way to scale their inventory according to demand. OnePlus did not want flash sales, where users may not get a device and the entire stock gets over. At the same time, OnePlus could not just manufacture so many devices and wait for the stock to clear, as they had no idea of how much demand would be there for the phones. Now, the volumes of the sales have increased enough for OnePlus to do away with the invite system. Millions of invites were sent over the past two years.

The OnePlus 3 will launch in a virtual reality environment. It is the OnePlus headquarters in cyberspace. It is a computer generated futuristic environment. Those who are in The Loop can purchase the OnePlus 3 exclusively for two hours before anyone else. For India, the launch will start at 10: PM on June 14.

Another way to get your hands on the OnePlus 3 before anyone else does, is to participate in the OnePlus 3 critical appreciation program, or what OnePlus calls, its “trial by fire”. Fans are invited to try out and review the phone by signing up for The Lab. These phones belong to OnePlus though, and will have to be returned. The announcement that the invite system will be done away with for the OnePlus 3 comes via a forum post.

OnePlus Loop VR headset sold out in less than 1 minute

The OnePlus Loop VR headset, developed with Ant VR for people to experience the launch of the OnePlus 3 in a virtual space station sold out in less than 1 minute on Amazon India today. The sale started today at 12 PM and was sold out before the clock hit 12:01 PM. This headset was being offered free (almost) with the shipping cost being Rs 1.

The sale was limited to the Amazon App and the anticipation for the latest flagship from OnePlus, the OnePlus 3 can only be guessed by the speed at which the VR headsets sold out (along with the waitlist being full). We tried purchasing the OnePlus Loop VR headset via the the waitlist at 12:15 but could not get hold of one out here as well. There are no official numbers available at the moment, but we do know that there were a total of 30,000 headsets available worldwide. So it is safe to say that the number must have been more than a thousand.

The second batch of free OnePlus VR headsets will sold on 7 June, 2016 at 12PM. Head to this link to register yourself if you have not registered already. The sale will only be available for registered users. The VR headset boasts 100-degree field of view along with a Orthoscopic Lens and compatibility for most phones with display sizes between 5 to 6 inches. The headset only weighs about 366 grams, minimizing any problems for the user in terms of the weight.

This comes right after the OnePlus VR Launch App was rolled out along with the announcement that the OnePlus 3 will be available invite-free right from the launch.
