Sony Xperia X Dual Smartphone Review: Over the past several years, Sony has used the ‘Z’ suffix for its flagship Xperia smartphones, but 2016 will see the things change. After completely doing it with specifications of Xperia Z5 Premium, the Japanese electronics giant has changed their positioning a little bit and they have now launched what it sees as more sensible options for Indian market i.e. the Sony Xperia X range.

Sony Xperia X Dual Smartphone Review in First Impression

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Three new models by Sony Xperia have been launched i.e. XA, X and XA Ultra.

The new range of the smartphones includes three smartphones i.e. the Sony Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia XA Dual and Xperia X Dual. In India the Xperia X Dual will be launching on June 7 which is priced at Rs. 48,990 and the XA Dual is slated to launch on June 18 for Rs. 20,990. We got a chance to check out all the three phones up close and we tested their camera features in depth.

For the last few years the Sony Xperia X Dual sticks to the tired and tested design that Sony has gone, with only small tweaks to the to the phone looks. A real sense of sturdiness and durability is given by the all-metal body to the smartphone, while the rounded corners and the smooth back make it feel generally satisfying to hold. It is the beautiful device and it is available in the four colours i.e. lime gold, rose gold, white and black. But we are particularly fond of the lime gold option.

The device has an accessible hybrid dual-SIM tray that doesn’t need an ejector pin to be opened. There is also a dedicated camera button, a power button with a fingerprint sensor, a Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm socket built into it. on the right of the phone the button is positioned and it is a bit recessed, but despite that seemingly odd position it is incredibly easy to use. The camera key can be used to launch camera, shoot a picture in 0.6 seconds and lock focus.

You will get a 5-inch full-HD IPS LCD screen that has the stunning black levels and the high contrast ratio and it produces good levels of the detail as a result. The glass is slightly curved at the corners and that adds to the way the phone feels in your hands.

The primary camera is 23-megapixel shooter and the one in the front has a 13-megapixel sensor. The camera is the Xperia X Dual’s signature feature that is added with some great new touches. One of these is the predictive hybrid autofocus that uses an algorithm to track even the rapidly moving objects so that you can focus and can capture detailed shots of them. There is also improved low-light selfies, excellent detail in the full-HD 60fps video and is also fast capture.

But there are some key weaknesses. The camera is unable to capture 4K video and camera cannot shoot in the burst mode. The maximum recording resolution is capped at 1920/1080. The images additionally are not always as detailed as those produced by some competing phones that are available at around the same price the Sony Xperia X Dual will launch at.

We did not got a chance to properly test the performance of Xperia X Dual, but it is built around extremely capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC and it also has RAM of 3GB, Android 6.0.1 out of the box and 64GB of internal storage.

The Xperia XA Dual and Xperia X Dual Ultra are launching at the same time. The Xperia XA Dual is powered by MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 SoC and it has 16GB of the internal storage that is expandable up to 200GB, Android 6.0.1 and 2GB of RAM. The Xperia XA Dual has 5-inch 720/1280pixel panel and this is the most notable weakness of the screen.

The Xperia XA Ultra is a phablet with 6-inch full-HD edge-to-edge screen. The smartphone has more impressive set of the shooters with primary camera of 21-megapixel sensor and a 16-megapixel sensor for front camera. There is also a 3GB of RAM and internal storage of 16GB and the MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 SoC. In India Sony has not yet announced the pricing or availability of the Xperia XA Ultra.
