DESIGN and DISPLAY
The LeEco Le 1s features exactly the same design and the metal build like its previous version. At the back there is a mirror-finished fingerprint sensor, camera on the top corner with a bump and LED flash, power and volume buttons like the LeEco Le 1s. A USB Type-C charging at the bottom and a headphone jack at the top.
On either side of the USB Type-C port there are two speaker grilles but only one of them is the main speaker while the other just reflects the sound. Above the display there is a speaker grille, front-facing camera and the usual set of the sensors. At the top there is a hidden LED notification.
This smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD In-cell IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 440ppi.
PERFORMANCE and CAMERA
The LeEco Le packs a 64-bit Octa-Core MediaTek Helio X10 SoC and it is clubbed with RAM of 3GB. It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with its own EUI 5.5 user interface on the top. The smartphones comes with in-built storage of 32GB but no option for microSD card. What failed to impress us here was that the user will need to enter the multi-window to access some quick options like Internet data, calculator, flashlight, Bluetooth, screen rotation and more. As these options are not available in the notification tray.
Now talking about the software, only the India-centric spin in Le 1s Eco has the access to feature English and Hindi local channels like Colours, ABP News, Sony India, Sony India and more. This service can be accessed by hitting ‘Live’ button that is placed at the home screen. In order to access these channels the users need to log in. Adjusting the resolution and switching between them is easy.
The rear camera of 13MP works fine under the direct sunlight but it tends to struggle in the low light. The front facing camera is good. The HDR mode takes up almost the 2 seconds to capture and process images in the different brightness in to one. There is an easy access to video, slow-motion video, panorama, video options directly from the screen. It is backed by battery of 3000mAh. The smartphone easily ran for the full day on the single charge with the average use. The SuperCharge technology is also did not let us down. The company also claims that the smartphone cam delivers the 3.5 hours of talk in just 10 minutes of the charging. Just like any other smartphone the 4G LTE was also fine.
VERDICT
Based on the price point, the smartphone aims to directly compete with Samsung Galaxy On7 and Lenovo A7000 Plus smartphones in India. The handset is not delivering the local video streaming content to the users but also features a pretty good display and the powerful processor to take care of the graphic intensive apps. With fast charging the massive battery is also a plus point for the users. Those who are shifting from HTC, Samsung or pure Android interface might face the issues while accessing various features.
