“Project Tango devices utilise a complex selection of camera sensors to map the space around the user in real time”
Earlier this year at CES, Lenovo announced its partnership with Google to bring the first Project Tango smartphone to life. The company is expected to unveil or share more details about its first Project Tango offering at Lenovo Tech World, which is taking place in San Francisco from June 9th. Now according to a tweet by the popular tipster @evleaks, Lenovo’s first Project Tango smartphone will be called the PHAB2 Pro.
The tipster also revealed that the Lenovo PHAB2 Pro will sport a 6.4-inch display. Lenovo already revealed at CES that the device will sport a display size less than 6.5-inches. The brand announced that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and will be priced less than $500, which roughly translates to Rs 33,300.
For those unaware, Project Tango was introduced with a modular tablet in May 2014 as a device that would map the world around it in 3D. The Project Tango-powered devices utilise a complex selection of sensors – a standard RGB camera for colour details, and two depth-sensing cameras with fisheye lenses to perceive space, motion and area. These sensors allow the device to map the space around the user in real time, which can be used to create 3D maps of indoor locations. We expect more details on Lenovo’s Project Tango tablet later this week, so stay tuned.
