Qualcomm has announced a higher tier variant of the Snapdragon 820, called the Snapdragon 821. It is a slight upgrade over the Snapdragon 820, in the sense that it runs a quad-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz.
Out of the four Kyro cores, two will be clocked at 2.4GHz which will be the performance cluster whereas the power cluster will have two Kyro cores clocked above 2GHz. The GPU that has been employed in the Snapdragon 821 isn’t yet known.
It hasn’t been long since the Snapdragon 820 was announced and we have seen it in the Xiaomi Mi 5, LeEco Le Max 2, the HTC 10 and the LG G5 so far. As compared to the Snapdragon 810, the Snapdragon 820 is much improved. The Snapdragon 821 will just take those improvements a step further.
According to Qualcomm, the handsets sporting the Snapdragon 821 will only be seen in the second half of 2016. Speculations are already hinting at the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the upcoming HTC built Nexus device.
