The rivalry between Samsung and Apple has been present for years, and now it has become even more pronounced as the two companies released two of the most-awaited phones: the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the Apple iPhone 6s Plus.
If you’re a Samsung fan or an Apple diehard, you probably already know which model you’ll buy the next time you go shopping for a phone. But, if you’re still on the fence, you’ll most likely want to do some research to know which make and model is perfect for you. You can start by browsing through this guide.
External Specs
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the Apple iPhone 6s Plus both have 5.5-inch screens, but this is probably the only thing they have in common. The former has a Super AMOLED display with a sharper 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, while the latter has a Retina HD display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. The Galaxy S7 Edge has a glass and metal body, while the 6s Plus has an aluminum unibody with a glass screen. Samsung’s newest phone is thicker by Apple’s latest offering by around 0.4mm, although it makes up for this by being shorter, narrower, and lighter.
Internal Specs
The two phones run on completely different processors, with the iPhone 6s Plus on the Apple A9 and the Galaxy S7 Edge on the Snapdragon 820 in some countries and regions and the Exynos 8890 in others. However, benchmark tests have revealed that all three processors have equal performance.
The Galaxy S7 Edge has the upper hand in terms of RAM since it comes with 4GB, which is twice the RAM of the iPhone 6s Plus. However, the latter offers more choices when in terms of internal storage since it allows shoppers to choose from 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB internal storage capacity. Still, the Galaxy S7 Edge comes out on top; although it has only 32GB and 64GB internal storage capacities, it supports microSD cards up to 200GB.
The two models are almost similar in terms of cameras: they both have 5MP front cameras and 12MP rear cameras, and they can both take 4K videos. But what sets them apart is their pixel size and aperture. The Galaxy S7 Edge, with its 1.4 µm pixels and f/1.7 lens, invariably takes clearer pictures in low-light conditions compared to the iPhone 6s Plus, which has 1.22 µm pixels and f/2.2 lens.
The Verdict:
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the Apple iPhone 6s Plus both have its pros and cons. So, before choosing one, it’s important to do your research to know which phone fits your lifestyle and gives you your money’s worth.
