Paes and Rhea are fighting a custody battle over their daughter, with Paes alleging that Rhea is a bad mother.
Bollywood filmmaker and Rhea's friend Karan Johar has come out in her support.
"Rhea is the most loving,loyal and wonderful friend,mother and partner...have known her for over 2 decades..recent reportage is unwarranted," he tweeted.
"Sad that sometimes you have to stand and defend goodness. I appreciate the media's need to report..I wish it came with a little sensitivity," he added.
